Summary
A simultaneous dynamic quarterly model of the beef and pork market of the Federal Republic of Germany is specified and estimated, using data from the first quarter of 1963 until the fourth quarter of 1973.
Various dynamic multipliers (impact, interim, and total multipliers) are derived from the estimated structural coefficients to study the influence of changes in exogenous variables (domestic production of beef and pork, prices of goods other than beef, pork, and income) on endogenous variables (prices of beef and pork, prices of cattle and hogs, inventory changes, netimports and domestic demand both on the beef and the pork market).
Explicit derivation of demand elasticities from structural coefficients and dynamic multipllers assume special importance in this context.
