Summary
In this article the seasonal pattern of EC wheat exports will be determined which maximises EC net revenue or minimises restitution expenditure, respectively. It is shown that this problem can be solved formulating a quadratic programming model. In recent years the level of the monthly increments for intervention and threshold prices has been progressively reduced and the intervention period has been shortened. The model is used to investigate the implications of these changes for the least restitution expenditure seasonal pattern of EC exports and to calculate the savings in EC restitution expenditure.
